A triumvirate of not really related things

I just returned from Martha Silano's reading at the Eugene Public Library. It was pleasant. She read a lot of food poems. She plugged The Canary. I'll post a full review here in the next day or two. I need time away from blog for a bit. I will say this: Martha Silano reminds me of a non-squeaky voiced Brenda Hillman. But her poems are nothing like Brenda's.

A whoppping ONE person has invited me to visit his/her town. I really AM chopped liver, it seems. And that person responded anonymously (tho' I'm guessing it's the JewishyIrishy one, since the invitation was to Iowa City or Atlanta).

Made a fab potato salad tonight. Ate it with an egg and leftover pork loin. Tomorrow: experiments with asparagus and citrus.

Are you allergic to cats?

Nah. I like cats. They mostly don't like me, though. Not sure why. I am allergic to dust or pollen or something. But not cats. They are the best animal. They are the devil's animal, which I guess explains why they're the best.

Since my cats *probably* won't kill you then, I would be more than happy to host you for a few days at the end of August/early September if you chose to come to the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia region. Of course I have serious concerns over my ability to pick a restaurant you'd find worthy. I order chicken in my quesadillas and have never even seen a fish taco.

If you can find a reason to come to Ithaca (the later in September the better), you're more than welcome.

I have an extra bedroom and a futon in Saint Louis that has your name on it, if you had a reason to come here. I was so busy trying to find a way to go someplace else, it didn't cross my mind that someone would want to come here.

Julie,

Hm....been to St. Louis. Ask Belz. Mixed results. I wrote two poems about it, however.

If you move somewhere cool, I'll visit. (apologies to St. Louis)

On behalf of St. Louis, I accept your apologies. It's lame here, I know. But I refuse to move! If I have to singlehandedly make this place not suck, I will do it. I'm with Reb, though, there's nothing I can do about the restaurant situation. Although, I *have* had a fish taco, albeit a disgusting, greasy one.

I'm going to Pittsburgh at the end of the month. Is there anything cool in Pittsburgh?

Born and raised in Pittsburgh. I grew up right next to Kennywood, so if you like old-timeyish amusement parks, that's the place. Just don't expect everyone to have a complete set of teeth. There are some nice things in Pittsburgh, like the Andy Warhol musuem. The people are also really friendly.
