I did see it sober. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe I'll get drunk and/or otherwise polluted and watch it again. Or maybe I'll try "Garden State."
Don't get me wrong--I didn't think it was bad. It just didn't live up to the hype. People have been telling me that this is the greatest movie since Citizen Kane, and I found it to be a 3/4-amusing, plotless, "quiet," character-driven film. I was expecting a laugh riot. Or something. I dunno. It reminds me of a piece of funny sketch comedy stretched waaaaaaaay out.
Ronnie Dobbs was great on Mr. Show, but have you seen the whole film???
Try watching it again--I hear people say it gets better on repeated viewings.
