A year later a lot has changed. The person I'm missing is different. Things with my mother have changed. Poems have been written. Manuscripts revised. Readings given.

I want to get through current troubles, but it's been rough going. A huge part of the situation is out of my hands. Someone I love very much has been incredibly hurt and I am not doing a good job of helping her and this saddens me unspeakably. I am physically ill.

But I'll persist and call mom today and try to do the things that I need to do to make it from this day to the next.

I want to be better at loving people, better at being better.

A muscular young cat came up into my home last night. He ate some tuna, sipped some water, scratched me a couple of times. It was nice to have feline company for a bit.
