Spent quality time with L. this week, which was nice, though marred by incredible out of season heat and no air conditioner. I bought a small fan which does very little.

For dinner flank steak tacos, chicken tacos, corn relish. Another dinner: chicken thighs with cumin and lime, pan-seared corn on the cob, salad of mixed greens with melon, hazelnuts, goat cheese, and balsamic reduction. A lot of beer this week. For L., a good amount of rum. I made daiquiris.

Met a couple of L's friends. Really sweet girls. We played trivia at Rogue on Friday and did pretty damn well.

Helped L. adopt a black kittycat named Loki. Nine months old, very docile but friendly, Loki is a champion bug hunter and eater. His favorite bug seems to be the big flying thing that is supposed to eat mosquitos. Mosquito Hawk, perhaps? Anyway, they apparently taste good. I also taught Loki how to use a litter box. I won't go into details.

I am not writing any new poetry, but am hard at work revising the chapbook manuscript (which promises to be part of a lengthier manuscript). Need a title still. Other goodish news is in the air, but I'll keep mum.

Current reading: Pisan Cantos, Diana Kennedy's My Mexico, assorted stuff by A. R. Ammons.

I did the corn again tonight, except on the grill. Extra better! xoxo
Dig the ammons.
D and E have a dog named Loki. I should look up what that name means.
