I'm not sure of the date, but I think it was in 1968 that LSU went completely broke at the end of the fall semester, and the atheletic department loaned the school $18 million dollars to keep the university running for the next year while the administration could secure some loans to stay open.
UA's head football coach is the third-highest paid state employee in Arkansas, earning $1.9 million dollars in total compensation per year. The fourth-highest is his assistant coach at $750,000. If I'm not mistaken, the fifth-highest is a Nobel-winning physicist who earns $250,000.
The real problem lies in Salem, as does its solution.
