Contests, however, are a different matter.
these people that think that poetry could go anywhere without friendship---they are just out of their minds.
A publisher -- especially a poetry publisher, where there's no realistic expectation of money -- ought to publish what excites him/her, what makes putting all that work into the project a continuing pleasure (even when it's a total pain). If there's a personal element to that, well, how rare to have it otherwise!
