"I am an idealistic, naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritually motivated artist, unschooled in the science of law and finance." --Wesley Snipes

What do you do on Saturday afternoons for fun?

1. I ate two tacos and washed them down with fresh limeade.

2. I've been reading Terry Eagleton's After Theory, in which I stumbled upon this passage: "[T]he advent of sexuality and popular culture as kosher subjects of study has put paid to one powerful myth. It has helped to demolish the puritan dogma that seriousness is one thing and pleasure another. The puritan mistakes pleasure for frivolity because he mistakes seriousness for solemnity. Pleasure falls outside the realm of knowledge, and thus is dangerously anarchic. On this view, to study pleasure would be like chemically analysing champagne rather than drinking the stuff. The puritan does not see that pleasure and seriousness are related in this sense: that finding out how life can become more pleasant for more people is a serious business."

Amen.

3. I've also been reading Reb Livingston's manuscript, Home-Schooled by a Cackling Jackal. It's good, so far.

4. I've done dishes, laundry, thought about paying bills.

5. I'm currently listening to Dire Straits' Making Movies. Mark Knopfler makes me giddy.

Yeah. It's really unfair to put poor Terry up against tacos and limeade. Tacos and limeade win every time.
