Recently Acquired, Read, and Meaning to Read

Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles Cookbook

James Beard's Delights and Prejudices

Jeremiah Tower's California Dish

The Thanksgiving issue of Gourmet

The Xmas/Channukah/New Year issue of Bon Appetit

Jeremiah Tower's book is slightly trashy (the pun in the title is quite appropriate) and full of menus. Menus everywhere. And Alice Waters abuse. And Michael Palmer. Yup. Michael Palmer, apparently, is a good friend and old roommate of J. Tower. It was Palmler who suggested the Alice B. Toklas menus in the early days of Chez Panisse. There's a nice photo of Jerry and Mike smoking stogies in the center of the book. I'm enjoying it immensely.

Things to read that will definitely get read once winter break starts if not before:

Twemlow's latest ms. version (must provide comments).

Ashley's ms. (must provide comments).

H_NGM_N, ed. Nate Pritts

A bunch of stuff pertinent to the dissertation, most of which I've already read and forgotten about. This time, I'll be sure to take notes.
