Things I ate this weekend:

At Colosso, with Julia, Kathy, Jack, and Jimmy.

Assorted small plates:

Asparagus, roasted, wrapped in jamon Serrano with a little fresh mozzarella.

Pork loin roulade, stuffed with chorizo and vegetables.

Dried plums (hey, wait, aren’t these prunes?!) stuffed with goat cheese, wrapped in bacon.

Pistachio-crusted halibut, served with currant-spiked rice.

Garbanzo beans and spinach, sautéed quickly with garlic.

Crab-filled crepe (which looked more like a crisped purse) on a sublime reddish sauce, the composition of which I do not recall.

Beet salad with a cumin vinaigrette.

Plate of assorted meats, cheeses, fruits. Manchego, a blue cheese buttery beyond compare, flawless slices of apple, pear, plump grapes. Spanish chorizo and jamon. A light pate—almost a mousse, really, with haunting, ethereal flavor.

To drink—Julia and Kathy split an expensive bottle of rioja. Jimmy and I drank beers. Jack stuck to club soda.

Later:

Souvlaki plate at Foti’s Greek Deli.
Chicken wings at Claudia’s.
Hummus three ways with garlic flatbread at Bridgeport Ale House.
Popeyes fried chicken.
