Top Ten for Last Week
1. The Decemberists at the WOW Hall. Petra Haden took lead vocal for an amazing cover of Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights."
2. A half-pound of guanciale from Pastaworks.
3. Being verbally assaulted by a self-proclaimed "big ol' queen" named Jose a.k.a. "Mitch the Bitch," and feeling very bad for his boyfriend, a really nice guy named Chris who looked *very* embarrassed.
4. Dinner at Colosso. Blogged below.
5. New cookbooks: MFK Fisher's "With Bold Knife and Fork" and Alford and Duguid's James Beard Award-winning "Flatbreads and Flavors."
6. Slighty abused but still serviceable pizza stone, borrowed from my brother, for use in cooking recipes from #5.
7. Iron Chef Batali givin' a serious ass-whoopin' to his really sweaty competitor, whose name I cannot recall at the moment.
8. Thursday night, not St. Paddying, but spent quietly with my MC, ending in a fake tattoo of an orange cat on someone's posterior.
9. Discussing teenage alcohol and drug-induced illegalities with Marc Covert while COPS played in the background.
10. Several poem acceptances.
"I am an idealistic, naive, passionate, truth-seeking, spiritually motivated artist, unschooled in the science of law and finance." --Wesley Snipes
