Back

My recent absence from blogland was not planned, but being (mostly) away has been (mostly) good. I’d like to think my batteries have been recharged, though I’m not having any particularly profound or witty thoughts. So who knows?

*

Being gone: partly due to My Occasionally Very Difficult Personal Life. Also a minor form of narcolepsy related to MOVDPL. Today, though, things seem good. Summer hasn’t really happened here in western Oregon yet, so I’m enjoying the cool breeziness, the near-absence of allergy season, the occasional bit of rain or hail.

*

I’m watching a movie about corrupt cops. One of the corrupt cops is named Massey. I’m learning that the cops—the man—hates women and black people. Oh wait. I already knew that. Hollywood, though, with the help of Lori Petty and Ice Cube, is reminding me.

Poetry. Post-Austin, things got weird. My 81 Poems Project is stalled somewhere in the mid-30s. Apt self-description: Anthony R., stalled somewhere in the mid-30s. I hope to have at least one complete section (27 short poems) ready for a possible event in the Fall. My would-be or maybe publishers haven’t been in touch lately. Does anyone want to buy a chapbook of nine-line poems?

Cooking a lot lately. A lot of Thai. Son in Law Eggs, Pad Phrik King, Drunken Beef, various yams (salad-like dishes). The cruel irony is that the same thing that drives me to cook also diminishes my hunger. So I’m cooking a lot but eating very little. My recent houseguest, though, did a good job of reducing food waste by being a good eater.

To,

Haven't checked in ages and today, alas, a nice payoff.

Welcome back.

Nine line? Awesome. Big Game loves the poetry of constraints.
